Our Purpose
We Are Blessed to Be a Blessing
"Tanaka" is a Shona word from a Zimbabwean tribal language meaning "we are blessed." We exist to glorify God and be a radiant light in the world — a ministry devoted to blessing others through service, truth, and the love of Christ.
We feel passionately called to Uganda. With a spirit-filled heart and a desire to make a difference, God has used our team's gifts to impact lives profoundly — rescuing girls from abuse, educating street children, restoring families, and building up communities from the inside out.
What We Do
Our Programs
Tanaka serves vulnerable youth and families through four active programs in Uganda.
Path of Hope
A rescue and restoration shelter in Mbale, Uganda, for girls who have experienced trafficking, sexual abuse, or abandonment — offering emergency safety, medical care, counseling, skills training, and a path toward independence.

A Biblically-based curriculum equipping Ugandan communities to protect children from abuse and restore broken families — reaching 2,220 people across 74 villages in 2025.

Assist. Resettle. Educate.
From the streets to the classroom — we assist, resettle, and educate vulnerable children through sponsorships, school fees, and family reunification, empowering 27 children in formal education in 2025.

Mukisa Ministries
A community center in Nasenyi, a small predominantly Muslim village about 20 minutes outside Mbale — serving 80+ children a daily breakfast, offering tutoring, sports, vocational training, care for the elderly, a student resource library, and parenting workshops rooted in Christ.
