Shining a light on God's faithfulness

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" — Isaiah 43:19

God is bringing fresh leadership through a new Executive Director, Country Director, and Board. We are grateful for His provision. Each brings fresh vision and strength to the ministry, and we are grateful for the ways God continues to provide.

Restoration
Path of Hope

This past month has been quieter in terms of intake, with only two new survivors joining us. This slower pace allowed us to focus on organizing files, maintaining the home, and welcoming a new manager—a much-needed addition to our team! We've also conducted home visits with many resettled girls, and we are thrilled to report they are thriving. Two of our longest-standing survivors are preparing for resettlement after joyful family bonding over Christmas.

We praise God for a successful court case resulting in a life sentence for a perpetrator, and for passing our government health inspection with excellence. We did face the challenge of a runaway, which highlighted the need to strengthen compound security with razor wire. If you feel led to help us with this unexpected cost, please visit tanakaglobal.org/donate

Reclaiming Hope

Despite the challenges of campaign season in Uganda, our teams have faithfully conducted training in 12 villages. Their perseverance is making a real impact! One staff member is on maternity leave after welcoming a healthy baby boy, and we celebrated this new life together. We also held our inception meeting with the government, which went incredibly well. Officials expressed excitement about our work and invited us to teach in areas where family issues and child abuse are especially prevalent. Please pray for lasting impact in these communities and safety for our trainers as they travel to remote places.

Intervention
Mukisa Ministries

The holiday programs were a great success! Children enjoyed activities ranging from academics and sports to service projects, including helping elderly women in our village. Parents joined us for a special day focused on godly discipline and recognizing child abuse. The holiday ended with a joyful celebration where children used their hard earned points to buy scholastic materials. Many also learned to make school books, proudly returning to school with resources they created themselves. Daily breakfast and devotions continue through the school term for 80 of our youngest children, who are thriving in their new safe space.

Intervention
Assist. Resettle. Educate.

All children are back in school for the new year! Some transitioned to new schools, while one awaits exam results. Sadly, one boy returned to the streets due to ongoing struggles with addiction—please keep him in prayer. We've combined Mukisa Ministries' sponsored students into one ARE category, bringing the total to 25 children from vulnerable or street situations who are receiving education and mentorship! Pray for these students as they adjust to new schools and some prepare for important candidate classes.

Family
Mukisa Family

The school holiday was busy but fruitful! We completed a family project as we were able to purchase our neighbor's house and move some of our family into it! We had to add power, water, and remove termites. Myself, the girls and the youngest six children are now settled there, while the boys are experiencing semi-independent living in apartments at our old house, which now serves as the Mukisa Ministry center. We are overjoyed to celebrate Nicolas and Kenneth's high school graduations! Nicolas will begin university in August, studying business with a vision to start a "second chance" school in his village. Kenneth received a scholarship to Hillsdale College in Michigan to study physics and computer science, with hopes of using technology to fight trafficking. I couldn't be more proud of these two amazing young men! God is doing great things!

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…" — Ephesians 3:20

We are in awe of all that God has done in our family and ministry. It is an honor to serve Him and extend His love to those we meet. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and support—without you, this work of showing God's love to survivors, children, and families across Uganda would not be possible. If you feel led to give to the ministry of Tanaka, please find it on the website tanakaglobal.org. May God bless you abundantly!

With love,
